Along with other districts of the division, in Sukma district also, the road built in the name of martyrs in the year 2020 has been completely uprooted due to shoddy construction.
Road was constructed at 50 percent more rate
Actually, under LWE scheme, the work of this road was done at 50% more rate than SOR but the quality of road work Due to careless handling, the entire 12 kilometer road has started to get uprooted. Alam is that it will be difficult to walk on the road during the rainy season. According to the information, during the construction of the road, many soldiers had given their martyrdom while protecting it. For this reason this road was named as Shaheed Vikas Marg but now this road is shedding tears due to its plight.
Opposition alleges corruption
Actually, the construction work of about 12 km road from Padhagudam to Kishtaram in Konta block of Sukma district was done in the year 2020. During the road construction work that started in 2017, police camps were opened at various places, forces were deployed for road safety work, during which many soldiers were shot by Naxalites. Apart from this, the jawans were martyred even after coming under the grip of the IED planted by the Naxalites. Similarly, in the memory of their martyrs, the soldiers protected the road from Padhagudem to Kistaram till the completion of the road and this road was named Shaheed Vikas Marg, but now this road has become dilapidated within just three years.< /p>
‘The corrupt didn’t even think about the martyrdom of the jawans’
CPI leader and National President of Adivasi Mahasabha Manish Kunjam told that K Mohan Reddy, a contractor from Hyderabad was killed by the Public Works Department. The contract for construction of road was given in SOR at 50% higher rate, the cost of the road increased from 1 crore 71 lakh to 2 crore 53 lakh, but work of Rs 50 lakh has not been done in this road and it was built in the name of the martyrs. The road has become a victim of corruption. He said that commission loss in the government system was so high that the responsible people did not even think about the martyrdom of the soldiers and indulged in corruption on this road. Manish Kunjam said that this matter should be investigated and Strict action should be taken against the culprits who constructed shoddy roads.
The entire road was uprooted in just 3 years
Actually, a plan was made to lay a network of roads to penetrate the Naxal-affected areas of Sukma district, the officials of the administration claimed this. It was predicted that Naxalism will decrease with the construction of roads and the administration will reach the last village easily, working on this plan, the exercise of making a paved road till Kistaram, called Naxalite stronghold, was started under the security of the soldiers. Within 3 years of the construction of the road, 12 km road became dilapidated due to poor construction. In this case, Sub Engineer Reshamlal Suryavanshi of the Public Works Department, who is currently in charge of the SDO, said that the performance guarantee period of the road has ended, repair of the road will be started soon, while the MLA of Konta Assembly and the State Excise Minister Kawasi Lakhma says that the said road has been built for the safety of the jawans, the responsible officers of the PWD department will be directed to improve the road by talking to them.
