Sonia Gandhi Sovereignty Tweet: After the end of polling in Karnataka on Wednesday (May 10), Congress seems to be getting an edge in the exit polls. But, meanwhile, the Congress has deleted the tweet containing the alleged statement of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi regarding ‘sovereignty’.
The Congress has clarified and tweeted that Sonia Gandhi did not use the word sovereignty anywhere in her speech in Hubli on 6 May. In fact, it is important because the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had surrounded the Congress in one of its rallies. Apart from this, after the complaint of BJP, the Election Commission had also sought an answer from the Congress.
Party issued clarification
Despite this controversy, the Congress did not delete its tweet and after the voting was over, issued a clarification and deleted the tweet. The clarification given by the Congress is factually correct. Sonia Gandhi did not give the statement that was tweeted about the sovereignty of Karnataka from the Twitter handle of the party quoting former Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
Tweet not deleted under strategy?
The big question is whether the Congress deliberately tweeted about a sensitive subject like sovereignty for electoral gains and did not delete the tweet as a strategy despite the controversy. Let us inform that during the election campaign on May 6, Sonia Gandhi had allegedly said while taunting the BJP that the Congress would not allow anyone to pose a threat to the prestige, sovereignty or integrity of Karnataka. BJP was the attacker on this statement of Senia Gandhi.
this was the whole matter
Actually, BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje had also accused Sonia Gandhi regarding the word sovereignty of Karnataka. Karandlaje had said that in the speech Sonia Gandhi gave in Hubli, she talked about the sovereignty of Karnataka whereas the word sovereignty is used only for the country. That’s why he demanded registration of FIR against Sonia Gandhi.
Congress has given clarification in this matter by issuing a statement from its official Twitter handle. In the official statement of the party, the complete speech of Sonia Gandhi’s public meeting in Hubli has been shared, in which Sonia Gandhi was an attacker on the progress of Karnataka and the BJP.
