NEET counseling may start from August 7, MCC will release the schedule soon

NEET UG counseling 2026: The wait of lakhs of students who have qualified NEET UG 2026 may now be over. The Medical Counseling Committee may soon release the detailed schedule of NEET UG 2026 counselling. At present, the message ‘Will Update Soon’ is visible on the official website of MCC, indicating that the entire counseling schedule will be uploaded soon.

According to the information, counseling of NEET UG 2026 is likely to start from August 7, 2026. The detailed counseling schedule can be released only on 31st July or first week of August. After this, candidates will be able to complete the process of online registration, college and course choice filling and choice locking.

Health Minister reviewed preparations

Before the counseling process started, Union Health Minister JP Nadda reviewed the preparations at a high-level meeting on July 29. Issues like counseling schedule, digital infrastructure, cyber security, grievance redressal system, support system for candidates and coordination with medical institutions were discussed in the meeting. The Health Minister directed the officials that the entire admission process should be transparent, fair and merit based. Besides, it should also be ensured that students do not face any kind of technical or administrative problem during counselling.

When will the seat allotment result come?

According to the probable schedule, the first round seat allotment result can be released by mid-August. Candidates who will be allotted seats will have to report to the concerned medical college by 31 August 2026 and complete document verification and other admission formalities. Let us tell you that MCC will conduct counseling for 15 percent All India Quota medical and dental seats as well as other seats under its jurisdiction. At the same time, admission to 85 percent state quota seats will be done by the respective state counseling authorities at their respective levels.

The entire counseling process will be like this

After the counseling starts, candidates will first have to register online. After this, you will select the medical college and course of your choice and do the choice filling. The allotment of seats will be done on the basis of NEET UG rank, preference of the candidates and available seats. Students who will accept the allotted seat will have to report to the concerned college for document verification and deposit the fees. Whereas candidates hoping for a better college can choose the float option. This will give them a chance to get upgradation in the next round while keeping their current seat safe.
