Swar and Chanbe assembly by-election results today, counting of votes will start in a while

Pig By-Election Results 2023 Live: The counting of votes for the assembly by-elections held in Uttar Pradesh is being done today i.e. on Saturday. The counting of votes for both the elections will start at 8 am. Voting for the by-elections of Swar (Rampur) and Chanbe (Chhanbey By-election Results 2023 Live) was held on May 10. According to officials, the voting percentage in the by-elections to Swar and Chanbe assembly seats was low and both the places recorded 44.95 per cent and 44.15 per cent polling respectively.

Swar had a polling percentage of 68.8 in the assembly elections held a year ago, when Abdullah Azam Khan, son of SP leader Azam Khan, defeated his nearest rival Apna Dal (Sonelal). Similarly, the polling percentage in Chanbe assembly constituency was 44.15 percent on Wednesday, while it was 52 percent in the last election.

The Swar seat fell vacant due to cancellation of membership of senior SP leader Azam Khan’s son Abdullah Azam following his conviction in a case, while the Chanbe seat fell vacant due to the death of BJP’s ally Apna Dal (Sonelal) MLA Rahul Kol. is vacant. In the by-election, there is a direct contest between the ruling coalition and the opposition Samajwadi Party.

This time Samajwadi Party has nominated Anuradha Chauhan and Apna Dal (Sonelal) has nominated Shafiq Ahmed Ansari from Swar seat. Apna Dal (Sonelal) has fielded Rinki Kol, wife of late MLA Rahul Kol, and SP has fielded Kirti Kol in Chanbe seat.

In the 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly, the ruling BJP has 255 MLAs, and its allies Apna Dal (Sonelal) and Nishad Party have 11 and six MLAs, respectively. SP has 109 MLAs while its ally Rashtriya Lok Dal has nine MLAs. Suheldev has six MLAs from the Bharatiya Samaj Party, two each from the Congress and the Jansatta Dal (Democratic) and one from the Bahujan Samaj Party.
