Where on one hand the Delhi Police is constantly trying to curb the drug business and its businessmen, on the other hand, the drug dealers are engaged in smuggling banned drugs in new ways. In one such case, the Anti-Narcotics Cell team of West Delhi has arrested two smugglers, including the mastermind, who used to smuggle cannabis from Guwahati in the train’s pantry car and bring it to Delhi and then supply it further.
The accused arrested in this case have been identified as Bithai Rai and his associate Anil Rai. 61 kg 350 grams of fine quality hemp worth Rs 25 lakh has been recovered from their possession. The leader of this gang, Bitholi, along with his son Sanjay, does the drug business, in which Sunil, who works in the pantry car of the train, used to support him. With his help, he used to bring the packets of marijuana to Delhi by hiding them among the goods.
Anti Narcotics Cell had received information about smugglers
According to DCP Ghanshyam Bansal, the team of Anti-Narcotics Cell of the district is constantly engaged in developing information about the drug business and its businessmen to arrest and arrest the smugglers. In the same sequence, the police got information from secret sources that a smuggler named Anil Rai was about to come near village Wala Chowk in Raghubir Nagar for delivery of a large consignment of ganja. Responding to which, under the supervision of ACP Operation Arvind Kumar, a team consisting of Sub Inspector Rajendra Dhaka, Rajendra Prasad, Head Constable Vijay, Lekhraj, Manjeet, Abhay, Vijay and Constable Kashiram, in charge of Narcotics Squad, was formed to nab them.
Ganja worth 25 lakh recovered in 38 packets
On the basis of information received from sources, the police team set up a trap in Raghubir Nagar area. Where he came to know that Bithai Rai and Anil Rai are present in a rented house. On which the police raided and caught both of them. Two bags were recovered from their possession. In this, 38 packets were filled with ganja. Its total weight turned out to be 61 kg 350 grams. The price of which is said to be Rs 25 lakh.
The father-son duo was running a cannabis smuggling syndicate
During interrogation, the accused Bithai Rai told that he was involved in this racket for the last 5 to 6 years. He was running this syndicate along with his son Sanjay. His son Sanjay used to go to Guwahati and collect hemp consignment from there. And then after handover further used to reach Delhi through it. The second associate arrested, Anil Rai, works with a private company which provides food items to the passengers in the bogies of the train. In this case, the police have registered a case against both of them in Khyala police station under the NDPS Act and arrested them and have started further investigation.
