Gyanvapi Case: On Monday (May 22), the Muslim side filed its objection to the petition filed in the district court of Varanasi, urging the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to survey the entire complex of the Gyanvapi mosque. During this, the Gyanvapi Masjid Committee said that neither the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb was cruel nor did he destroy the Lord Adi Vishweshwar temple in Varanasi.
In its objection to the ASI survey of the complex, the mosque committee (Anjuman Intejamia Masjid Committee) has refuted the claim made by the Hindu side that the old Lord Adi Vishweshwar temple was attacked and destroyed by Muslim invaders and then In 1580 AD, King Tondal Mal had built a temple at this place. The court has fixed the date of July 7 for the next hearing.
“No Shivling Found”
The mosque committee has also denied the discovery of a ‘Shivling’ inside the Gyanvapi mosque complex by the court-appointed commissioner last year. The mosque committee said that no Shivling has been found in Gyanvapi. That thing is a fountain. There was no concept of two Kashi Vishwanath temples (old and new) in Varanasi. Apart from this, the Masjid Committee has also objected to the argument of the Hindu side calling Muslim rulers as invaders. It has been said in this that this thing was said with the aim of creating hatred among Hindu Muslims.
Order to hear seven cases together
It was further said that the building present on the spot, Gyanvapi Masjid, has been there for thousands of years. It was a mosque yesterday and it is a mosque even today. Muslims of Varanasi and surrounding districts have been offering Namaz there without any restrictions. Meanwhile, a district court in Varanasi on Tuesday ordered the hearing of seven cases of the same nature related to the Gyanvapi case to be held together.
