‘CBI investigation will not yield any result, I have done before also…’, Mamata Banerjee on train accident investigation

Coromandel Train Accident: There is a demand for a CBI inquiry into the triple train accident in Balasore, Odisha. This demand has been made by the Railways. Now the reaction of West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) Chief Mamata Banerjee has also come on this matter. They believe that no solution will be found by getting it investigated by the Central Investigation Agency.

CM Banerjee said this on Monday (June 5) after meeting the people injured in the accident undergoing treatment at the state-run hospital SSKM. He said that even 12 years back, the Dnyaneshwari Express train had met with an accident. For whose investigation she had handed it over to the CBI but no result was found. Mamta Banerjee was the Railway Minister at that time and its investigation was handed over to the CBI.

‘We want people to know the truth’

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee feels that the CBI investigation will not yield any results. Referring to this train accident of the year 2010, the CM said that 148 people had died in the Dnyaneshwari Express accident. Mamta said, I had also handed over the Sainthia case to the CBI. There was no result there either. CBI investigates criminal cases but this is an accident case.

He said that the Railway Safety Commission is there for investigation, which used to do such investigation earlier also. We want people to know the truth. This is not the time to suppress the truth. Rather instead think of all those who have lost their family members.

country’s deadliest accident

Banerjee further said that the dead who have not been identified so far should be identified first. CM said, the bodies of many people have not been identified yet. As far as I know, bodies of 120 people are lying without identification, which should be recovered first.

The Chief Minister of Bengal, while meeting the people injured in the horrific train accident, said that this is the country’s deadliest accident in decades. In which many people have lost their one hand while many people have lost their leg.

CM Banerjee will visit Cuttack

The Chief Minister further said that he would visit Cuttack tomorrow. Where 53 patients of Bengal are admitted. The CM said that so far 76 dead bodies have been brought to his state. At the same time, 206 people are being treated in different hospitals of the state, out of which 16 patients are from other states.

There was a horrific collision between three trains on the evening of May 2 in Balasore district. The accident between the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express and the Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express and a goods train took place around 7 pm near Bahanaga Bazar station, which is about 250 km south of Kolkata and 170 km north of Bhubaneswar.
