Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023: Rajya Sabha member Kapil Sibal has targeted the Election Commission (ECI) for issuing notice to the Congress. He said on Sunday (May 7) that the Election Commission should also seek evidence from PM Modi regarding the allegations leveled against the Congress. The PM has accused the Congress of indulging in backdoor political talks with those involved in terrorism.
In fact, the Election Commission had issued a notice to the Congress on Saturday. The Commission had asked for evidence on the allegations of corruption leveled against the BJP in an advertisement by the Congress. Congress had published ‘corruption rate card’ advertisement in newspapers against BJP. This notice was issued after the BJP filed a complaint. Regarding this, former Congress leader Kapil Sibal raised this question.
“Doesn’t have the guts to ask the Prime Minister for evidence”
Former Union Minister Sibal tweeted about this development that the Election Commission has sought evidence from the Congress on the allegations of corruption leveled against the BJP. What is being done on behalf of the Prime Minister regarding asking for evidence regarding the allegation that the Congress is having back door talks with those involved in terrorism. He further wrote whether the Election Commission does not have the courage to ask for evidence from the Prime Minister.
Congress demanded action
Kapil Sibal left the Congress in May last year. On Saturday, the Congress also wrote a letter to the Election Commission demanding action against PM Modi’s allegations that the Congress gave shelter to terrorism for vote bank.
The issue of wrestlers was also targeted
Earlier, Sibal had on Saturday raised questions on Prime Minister Modi’s silence in connection with allegations of sexual harassment against Wrestling Federation of India President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Sibal had asked whether the accused was so important in terms of elections in Uttar Pradesh that he could not be removed from office till the probe was completed.
