If a train collides head-on with another train, then the general coach suffers the most.
Train Crash Safety Tips: Recently a major train accident has happened in Odisha. The accident took place in Balasore, Odisha when the Coromandel Express derailed and three trains collided with each other. Several hundred people lost their lives and thousands were injured in this accident. When a passenger train is a victim of a major accident, the chances of survival of the passengers are very less, because the train is at such a speed that no one gets a chance to escape or understand anything. But do you know which coaches are less and which are more damaged in a train accident and who has such a place inside the coach in the train where you can keep yourself safe at the time of the accident.
We should take some precautions while traveling in train because no one knows what will happen at what time. There are some such coaches or coaches in the train which are less prone to damage during minor or mild accidents. Let us tell you that at the time of a train accident, the most damage is done to the general coaches because they are close to the engine and at the rear.
These coaches suffer the most in accidents
Whenever a train collides with a train from the front or the rear, the first and more impact is on the general coach. Similarly, if a train derails and collides with another train, the maximum damage is done to the first general coaches. There are many times more passengers than the space in general coaches, due to which the loss of life and property also happens in these coaches.
In case of an accident in any train, the entire train gets damaged and all the passengers get affected in one way or the other. However, there are some coaches which are less prone to damage as compared to other coaches. These coaches are AC coaches. Such coaches can be called safe because they are in the middle of the train. If a train rushes from the front, its impact in AC coaches will be lesser than in general coaches. Along with this, there is less crowd in AC coaches as compared to general and sleeper coaches, due to which there is scope for reducing losses.
What to do to avoid train accident
In any train accident, there is a possibility of staying safe only if you are sitting in the middle of the people. If you are sitting with everyone, you will not directly hit the wall, floor, seat, window of the train due to the jerk. This reduces your chances of getting injured. Try to reduce the speed of the train. Along with this, whenever you are sitting on your seat, try to sit with emphasis on the back. This will prevent you from suddenly falling down or forward when hit.
