China-India Relation: With the end of the month of June, there will not be a single Indian journalist in China. The last remaining Indian journalist working there from China has been asked to leave the country before the end of June.
China on Monday (June 12) accused its journalists of discrimination and unfair treatment in India. Quoting sources in the Reuters report, it has been said that only a journalist of the Indian news agency PTI is left in China. That too will come to India after the visa expires.
What is the matter?
According to a Reuters report, at the beginning of 2023, four Indian journalists were in China, out of which two had to return to India in April due to visa freeze. At the same time, one of the remaining two journalists returned to the country after the visa expired on 11 June. The last journalists will also return to India by the end of June. After which there will not be a single Indian journalist in China.
China accused of unfair treatment
According to Reuters, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin alleged on Monday (June 12) that in recent years, Chinese journalists are discriminated and treated unfairly in India. He claimed that the visa of Chinese journalists in India has not been accepted since 2020. Because of which only one Chinese journalist is left in India instead of 14.
India gave this answer on the allegations
According to the Bloomberg report, on China’s claims, the Indian government said that Chinese journalists were working in the country without any problem, but this was not the case with Indian journalists in China.
According to Reuters, last month India had given temporary visas to Chinese journalists for the SCO foreign ministers’ meeting. The Ministry of External Affairs said that India has allowed all foreign journalists to work in the country. We hope that China will also give exemption to Indian journalists there.
