Accepting someone’s link on WhatsApp or accepting a video call in exchange for a call from an unknown number, calling in the name of a bank and asking for OTP or taking personal information from you by posing as an employee of the electricity department, cybercrime and fraud are our- It has entered your life from all sides and is looting your hard earned money in new ways. There is still a lot of lack of awareness about it in our country and being alert is the only way to avoid it.
The onslaught of cybercrime is all-round
Nowadays new cases of cyberfraud are coming to the fore. Even AI platforms like ChatGPT have a great contribution in introducing these new methods. It should be remembered that after Kovid-19 we have entered the golden age of cybercrime. There will be attempts to cheat in new and completely different ways. Whether this message comes that your electricity will be cut or you have to do something new related to your bank. They do cyber fraud in a completely different way, in which not only common man, but also intellectuals, trained people will also become victims of fraud. Now we should be ready for this that there will be only two types of people in the world. First, those who know that cyber fraud has happened to them, secondly those who do not know that they are going to be cheated. The first category in this is flagging, so every man has to be prepared that there is a possibility of online fraud with him.
Sextortion of more money with less effort
Sextortion is actually a way of giving more money with very little effort. Anyway, we Indians trust everyone. So someone says that there is such and such a link for a video call, so we suppress that too. Once his video call is started, then the masala of sextortion is ready within two-four seconds. The only way to avoid such calls is that you should not accept any such call from any unknown person. If someone becomes a victim in such cases, then the first thing should be understood that you should not sit silent. You need to call 1930 immediately. This is the national helpline number.
If any kind of fraud related to the bank happens to you and you call on this number 1930, then automatically from this number the call goes to the bank where you have an account. The bank is told that this is the money of fraud, if fraud has happened then the bank itself stops that transaction. So, the first thing you have to do in case of any fraud is to call this number. This number has saved crores of rupees. Apart from this, you can register your complaint even while sitting at home. The government cybercrime.gov.in has been facilitated. You can file a complaint on this from your mobile sitting at home and it will reach your police station. You actually have to ask yourself why this cybercrime happened to you, then you have to be careful. You have to be careful at all times.
Our response is loose, needs to tighten
India’s response to cybercrime is not very effective. There is no dedicated law regarding cybercrime. We are under the Information Technology Act. Apart from this, cases are not registered, policemen are mostly evasive and your complaint is not registered. Many people complain that they have been harassed a lot. Even if the case is registered, the police are not able to pick up the electronic evidences, properly. Unable to present in court. So, after the case is registered, the punishment is not found. The figures shown are only for the registration of FIRs. So, the law has to be amended. The police force will have to be tightened. This crime has to be made non-bailable. Strict laws can be brought separately. Until and unless the consumer is not empowered, we will not get the results. We have to encourage the consumer to adopt cyber-security in his lifestyle. There is no other option than that.
There is a lot of lack of awareness in India. The more we make digital citizens, users, consumers aware, tell them about the methods of cybercrime, the more they will be able to avoid it. It has now been established that cyber law and cyber crime will have to be told from the first class. It is the responsibility of the family as well as the responsibility of the society to make each other aware, sometimes it happens that the other person is not even aware and has become a victim of cybercrime. < /p>
