The Prime Minister will visit the nearly 1,000-year-old Al-Hakim Mosque in the Egyptian capital Cairo on Saturday (June 24). Which is an important cultural site for the Dawoodi Bohra Muslims of India.

Will pay tribute to Indian soldiers

This journey is being seen as a game changer
Egyptian Ambassador Wael Mohamed Awad Hamed said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Egypt is being seen as a game changer for bilateral relations. In which both sides are expected to increase cooperation in areas ranging from security to trade and investment. Hameed told Hindustan Times that apart from co-production of military equipment, the two sides would discuss Egypt’s offer of a dedicated slot for India within the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
What did the Egyptian ambassador say?
He said that the last bilateral visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Egypt was in 1997. At that time, Egypt and India had a different leadership and the world was different. As an ambassador, it was disheartening for me to see that Egypt-India relations, which were traditionally very strong, did not continue with the same momentum they had in the 1950s and 1960s. Unfortunately, in the 1990s and the first two decades of this century, these relations did not progress much.
Egypt’s President was the chief guest on Republic Day
The Egyptian ambassador said that now the two countries are coming closer. In 2022, our President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi was invited by Prime Minister Modi to be the chief guest on the Republic Day of India. I see it as a game-changer. Prime Minister Modi and our President, both the leaders have the same priorities- modernization, industrialization, employment generation, development and environmental awareness of their countries. Egypt has also been invited as the guest country under the G20 presidency of India.
There can be a deal between India and Egypt in these areas
Giving information about the deals to be done during the PM’s visit, he said that there are four or five agreements on agriculture, small and medium-sized enterprises, information technology, trade and culture, which is a very important aspect of our relations. We are also working to prepare the Strategic Partnership Agreement and it is expected to be signed during the visit.
