Prigozhin, its head, raised the flag of rebellion and basically his target is Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Russian Army Chief of Staff Valery Gerasimov. Most of his statements were against both of them. There are two things in this. Firstly, Prigozhin did not get along with both of them at all and the President of Russia also knew this, he was also fully aware of it.

Even in Russia it is like an ‘open secret’. He also criticized the methods of both of them several times and Prigogine also said that if Ukraine is to be won, then the method of war is not right. Even when Prigogine was moving towards Russia, he had said that he was going to take on the ‘jokers’ who were ruining the Ukraine war. So, the war of words was on. Meanwhile, a notice also came from the Ministry of Defense of Russia, in which it was said that all the private armies fighting in Ukraine were to be brought under the Russian army. Prigogine was not ready for this, he wanted to keep his army private. This was an immediate reason.

Lukashenko is special to Putin and Prigogine

When the Russian army invaded Ukraine on 23 June, some of Wagner’s soldiers were also killed in it. This is considered to be the immediate cause of Wagner’s rebellion. That is why, first of all they captured the Rastova headquarters and then were moving towards Moscow. At the same time, when he had also given his address, he had said that both Shoigu and Gerasimov should be handed over to him. One thing to note is that he did not utter a single word against Putin. He continued to talk about Shoigu and Gerasimov. Another thing to note is that when Prigozhin was moving towards Moscow, Putin also gave his address to the nation, in which he did not name Prigozhin, but called these actions as treason. While all these things were happening and happening, one thing came to light that Belarus President Lukashenko has averted the crisis by talking to Putin and Prigogine, reconciliation has happened. The reason for this is that Lukashenko is considered a very old friend of both.

The whole world knows his close friendship and friendship with President Putin. Along with this, it has also become clear that Prigogine is also his special friend. This conversation between Putin and Prigogine took place only because of the mediation of Lukashenko. The things that were decided in this, three main things have come to the fore. Thirdly, even if the Wagner Group is disbanded, the soldiers who were involved in it will not be punished. Thirdly, for the soldiers of Wagner Group who did not take part in the rebellion, there is also an offer that they can join the Russian army if they wish.

The first thing we should keep in mind is that President Putin is very powerful. How were all these things happening right under his nose? He knew that Prigogine was angry and perhaps he could not judge his ‘nuisance value’ properly. Thirdly, a theory is also coming that all this is Putin’s handiwork. There is also a theory that all this happened with Putin’s consent to remove Shoigu and Geramisov. However, its counter also comes that if Putin is so powerful, then why does he need this drama, he can remove anyone.
