Anna Bhagya Yojana: The Karnataka government is facing difficulties in procuring large quantities of rice to meet the election guarantee. We tried to buy rice, but no organization came forward to supply us the required quantity of food grains.
What did the Karnataka government say?
Minister H Muniyappa said that the date (July 1) to start Anna Bhagya Yojana has come and we had promised, so in the cabinet meeting CM Siddaramaiah, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar and other ministers reached the decision that till the rice If there is no supply, we will give money to BPL card holders at the rate of Rs 34 per kg, which is the rate of FCI. In this case, the beneficiaries of five forts will get Rs 170.
Siddaramaiah also talked to Amit Shah
CM Siddaramaiah recently raised the issue of rice during his meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He told after the meeting that I told him (Amit Shah) that FCI had earlier said that it would supply rice, it also issued a letter regarding this, but later it refused.
