Twitter-owned TweetDeck shows multiple tweets at once in real time, allowing users to keep track of multiple accounts. TweetDeck, a Twitter client used by many professionals to monitor multiple Twitter accounts at once, appears to have been affected by the social media platform’s recently implemented reading limit limit on the number of posts a user can view in a day. Limits the number of Tweets that can be sent. Users globally are complaining that the media management tool is not auto-refreshing. While some claimed that columns for mentions, likes or other information on TweetDeck have been left blank.
Netizens’ Reactions
“I’ve been using TweetDeck for 14 years. I never face the problem of irrelevant timelines. If web interface is the only option I will stop using Twitter altogether,” complained one user on Monday.
“It looks like Twitter is messing with TweetDeck. If you enable Tweetdeck Preview, it works. If you opt out of the new TweetDeck, it still sucks,” tweeted another user.
Helps in tracking multiple accounts
TweetDeck shows multiple tweets at once with multiple timelines that update in real time, helping users keep track of multiple accounts. This will place more demands on Twitter’s servers than regular Twitter apps. It is reported that this may be one of the reasons why Twitter has limited some of TweetDeck’s functionality.
No comments from Twitter yet
Neither Twitter nor Elon Musk has commented on the issue so far. TweetDeck’s official Twitter page, whose last post was almost a year ago, has since said, “A new and improved TweetDeck…coming soon.”
Twitter sets limit on daily read posts
Twitter on Saturday decided to limit the number of posts users can read per day. The measure is said to be for a “temporary time” but no timeline has been given. The decision comes just after the microblogging site made it mandatory for users to log in to use the platform. Announcing the decision, Twitter boss Elon Musk tweeted, “To address the extreme levels of data scraping and system manipulation, we have implemented the following temporary limits – Verified accounts are limited to reading 6000 posts per day, per day.” Unverified accounts up to 600 posts, new unverified accounts up to 300 per day.”
Why read limit on Twitter?
Elon Musk said that AI models were scraping data to build their AI models to such an extent that it was causing traffic problems on Twitter. “Several hundred organizations (probably more) were scraping Twitter data extremely aggressively, to the extent that it was affecting the actual user experience,” the Twitter boss said. “Almost every company doing AI work, from startups to some of the largest corporations on Earth, was scraping massive amounts of data,” Musk said.
Meanwhile Elon Musk tweeted
Both Twitter and Musk have faced criticism since the new rate cap was implemented. “Goodbye Twitter” was a trending topic in the United States following the announcement. In defending his decision and responding to people’s complaints about the rate cap, Musk urged people to step away from their phones and instead follow friends and family. Told to spend time with family. “You have awoken from a deep trance, get away from your phone to meet your friends and family,” he tweeted on Sunday.
