Tripura Assembly Ruckus: There was uproar in the Tripura assembly on Friday (July 7) over the suspension of five MLAs and a discussion on a ruling BJP MLA being denied permission for allegedly watching a pornographic film in the House.
During this, the members of the opposition parties walked out twice. A video from inside the House surfaced, in which some MLAs are seen creating ruckus by climbing on the table. Speaker Vishwabandhu Sen suspended five MLAs for a day after opposition leaders demonstrated in the House, following which the opposition parties walked out of the House.

Assembly Speaker Sen withdrew the order of suspension of the MLAs after some time on the request of Chief Minister Manik Saha. After the suspension was over, the five MLAs returned to the House but insisted that action should be taken against the BJP MLA for his misbehaviour. When the Speaker refused, the opposition members again walked out of the House.
Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) MLA Nayan Sarkar, Congress’s Sudip Roy Barman and three Tipra Motha MLAs… Briswaketu Debbarma, Nandita Reang and Ranjit Debbarma were suspended for ‘causing disruption’ on the first day of the budget session. .

Tipra Motha MLA Animesh Debbarma demanded a discussion on the misbehavior of BJP MLA Jadab Lal Nath. The BJP MLA was allegedly watching a pornographic film on his mobile phone inside the assembly on March 30. Debbarma wanted to bring an adjournment motion on this issue but the Speaker did not allow him and asked Finance Minister Pranjit Singh Roy to table the budget for the current financial year.

Angered by the Speaker’s decision, the Tipra Motha MLAs started protesting and demanded a discussion on the issue of Jadab Lal. The MLAs of CPI(M) and Congress also joined the protest and came in front of the podium. During this, the Finance Minister continued his budget speech. The Speaker initially warned the opposition members not to protest inside the House and said he would reconsider suspending them, but they staged a walkout.
