India lost in hockey semi-final, Germany beat them 3-2; still have a chance to win bronze

With this, Team India’s dream of winning the gold medal after a long wait of 44 years has remained unfulfilled. In the last quarter, India substituted the goalkeeper and played with 12 players, but could not level the score with Germany. In the last moments, Shamsher got a great shot, but he could not put the ball inside the net. Team India is still not out because on August 8, it will play the match for the bronze medal.

In the first quarter, India took a 1-0 lead, but in the second quarter, Germany performed brilliantly and scored 2 goals within 15 minutes. The Indian team was getting a lot of penalty corners, but not being able to convert them into goals has been a problem for the team. In the third quarter, captain Harmanpreet Singh finally converted a penalty corner into a goal and equalized the match at 2-2. In the fourth and last quarter, Germany played aggressively. As a result, Germany scored its third goal in the 54th minute of the match. India even substituted goalkeeper PR Sreejesh in the last minutes and fielded the 12th player. Despite this, all the efforts of India failed.

India had the chance to reach the final of hockey for the first time since 1980. India had won the gold medal in the 1980 Olympic Games, but 44 years have passed since that victory but Team India has never been able to enter the final of the Olympic Games. Well, the hope of gold medal is over this time too, but India still has a chance to win a bronze medal. India has won the most medals in the Olympics so far in hockey. Till date, India has won 12 medals in hockey including 8 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze and now the team will have a chance to take this number to 13 medals.
