Vinesh Phogat Appeal Silver Medal: Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat had appealed to be given a silver medal after being disqualified from Paris Olympics 2024. She appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) to give her a silver medal. Time has been given several times for hearing this case so far, but now it is being told that the hearing on the demand for giving silver medal to Vinesh will be held on August 9. Let us tell you that CAS had accepted Vinesh Phogat’s appeal and asked the Indian wrestler to appoint her lawyer.
Who will be Vinesh’s lawyer?
As soon as CAS accepted Vinesh Phogat’s appeal, the Indian government entered the case. The Indian government has expressed full support to Vinesh and asked her to appoint Harish Salve as her lawyer. CAS had given Vinesh time till 9:30 pm on Thursday Indian time to choose her lawyer. The process of appointing Harish Salve as a lawyer has been started. Meanwhile, CAS has extended the time for hearing Vinesh’s case to 1:30 pm on August 9.
2 appeals were made by Vinesh
Vinesh Phogat had made two appeals before the court. In the first appeal, she had demanded to participate in the final of the women’s 50 kg weight category wrestling to be held on Thursday, but her demand was rejected. In the second appeal, she demanded to be the joint silver medal winner in this category, which was accepted. Now the hearing on this matter will be held on August 9 at 1:30 pm.
Let us remind you that Vinesh created a sensation by defeating defending Olympic champion Yui Susaki of Japan in the very first round. She entered the finals by performing well in the quarter-finals and semi-finals. But before the final match, her weight was found to be 100 grams more than the prescribed standards, due to which she was disqualified from Paris Olympics 2024.
