Donated to an NGO supporting Ukraine

The Russian court has convicted this woman of treason. The matter is that this woman is of Russian origin, who has American citizenship. This Russian woman got American citizenship in 2021 and she lives in New York City with her boyfriend. The war between Ukraine and Russia was going on. In such a situation, this woman donated 50 dollars to an NGO which was supporting Volodymyr Zelensky and Ukraine in this war. This is the reason why 33-year-old Ksenia Karelina has been sentenced to 12 years by the Russian court. Ksenia had donated 50 dollars to an American NGO supporting Ukraine in the war.

She got arrested when she came to meet her grandparents

When the Russian woman who donated the money came to Russia from America to meet her grandparents, she was arrested and then a court hearing was held. In the hearing, it was said that the woman had sent this money to the Ukrainian army to buy ammunition, which was used against Russia. The Russian government has recently made the punishment for traitors even more stringent. Last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin increased the maximum punishment for treason from 20 years to life imprisonment.
