The reason for the dispute was said to be the demand for the release of the jailed MP. Dozens of people are seen getting involved in the scuffle in the video. Some are trying to stop others. There was a heated debate in the Parliament on Friday, after which there was a scuffle between the MPs of the ruling AKP party and the opposition MPs. The opposition MPs were demanding to call their colleague to the House, who is currently in jail. Ahmet Sik, a member of the Workers’ Party of Turkey, demanded the release of colleague Can Atalay. During this, a dispute broke out. In the video too, MPs of the ruling AKP party are seen running to punch. The fight was so intense that blood was spilled on the stairs of the Parliament.
The court had restored the membership
It was told that Atalay was sentenced to 18 years in prison in 2022 for trying to overthrow the government during nationwide protests in 2013. 6 others including social worker Usman Kavala were also accused in this. Despite being in jail, Atalay was elected MP in May 2023. Although the Parliament had canceled his membership, but on August 1 of this month, the court declared his expulsion invalid, after which his colleagues demanded his release.

There was a controversy over calling him a terrorist
Meanwhile, while giving a speech, Ahmet Sik accused the ruling AKP of calling its opponents terrorists. He said that we are not surprised that you call Can Atalay a terrorist. You call everyone who does not support you a terrorist. Sik also said that the biggest terrorists are those who are sitting on these seats. During this heated debate, the ruling and opposition MPs clashed with each other. Opposition MP Sik, who called it a terrorist organization, was punched by AKP MPs. Dozens of MPs started fighting with him. A female MP also got hurt in this fight.
