Bangladesh Flood: The situation in Bangladesh has not been normal for the past few months. In the neighboring country, students started protesting for reservation, which took a violent turn. This was the reason why Sheikh Hasina had to resign from the post of PM and she came to India. More than 500 people died in this violent protest in Bangladesh, but now a bigger crisis is looming over the country. Due to continuous monsoon rains, the neighboring country is now troubled by the crisis of floods. Due to heavy rains and rising rivers, the country has been hit by floods, in which at least 20 people have died so far while more than 50 lakh people have been affected by the floods.
The problems caused by floods are not hidden from anyone. It disrupts people’s lives. People do not get clean food, clean water, even medicines and dry clothes. The head of the interim government formed in Bangladesh, Mohammad Yunus, said in his address that the administration is taking necessary measures for the flood victims in the country. It is trying to ensure that the situation becomes normal.
Meteorological department issued alert
According to a Reuters report, 65-year-old Abdul Hakim of Bangladesh’s Comilla district says that 10 feet high flood water swept away his hut at midnight. None of his belongings are left now. Even drinking water is not available. It is very difficult for anyone to bring help inside the village. Government head Mohammad Yunus has said that talks have been started with neighboring countries to prevent floods due to rain in the coming time. Even the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued an alert that if the monsoon rains continue, the flood situation will continue because the pace of water level decreasing is very slow.
More than 4 lakh people reached the relief camp
On the other hand, the administration officials say that 11 districts of the country are affected by floods, in which 3500 relief camps have been set up. More than four lakh people have taken shelter in these camps so far. 750 medical teams are deployed for the treatment of these people. The Army, Air Force, Navy and even the Border Guard are engaged in helping the people. The special thing is that Bangladesh is surrounded by hundreds of rivers. This is not the first time that flood situation is arising in the neighboring country. It has happened many times that Bangladesh has faced the crisis of floods. Every year monsoon rains wreak havoc in the country and every year the number of incidents keeps increasing continuously. Due to floods, the main ports, highways, railway lines in the country have been destroyed and this is the reason that providing help to the flood-affected districts has become negligible.
