Israel–Hamas War: Tensions have once again escalated in the Middle East. The Israeli army claimed on Friday (30 August) that it has killed three Palestinians, including Hamas chief Wissam Khazim, in the city of Jenin. The Israeli army is conducting a major military operation in the occupied West Bank. Khazim was the head of Hamas in Jenin and was involved in firing and bombing attacks in the Palestinian area.
According to the report of news agency Reuters, the Israeli army says, “Security forces have killed Visam Khazim in an encounter. He was travelling in a vehicle at that time. After this, two more terrorists, who were trying to escape, were killed in a drone airstrike.” The statement further said that weapons, explosives and a large amount of cash were found in the vehicle.
The 3 killed members belonged to the Al-Qassam Brigades
The Palestinian Health Ministry said three people were killed since last night in the town of Jawadeh in the south east of Jenin. Hamas says they were members of the armed wing of the Al-Qassam Brigades. Meanwhile, Israel has carried out military action in four West Bank cities – Tulkarm, Jenin, Tubas and Nablus. It says it is carrying out an “anti-terrorist operation”. It is believed that this is Israel’s largest operation in the West Bank in the last 20 years.
Know how IDF killed him?
In fact, a burned car riddled with bullets was parked near a wall in the village of Jawabeh, just outside Jenin, where the vehicle stopped after being pursued by an Israeli special forces unit. Meanwhile, local Saif Ghannam (25) said that one of the two other men who fled from the car was killed in a small drone attack outside his home, which shattered his windows, while the other man was killed a short distance away. Ghannam said the Israeli army had removed the bodies, but the place where the people were killed was still unknown.
17 Palestinians died in the last two days
The incident took place when the Israeli army launched a large-scale operation with hundreds of soldiers and police in Jenin and Tulkarm on Wednesday (August 28) morning. However, at least 17 Palestinians were killed in the first two days of the West Bank operation, including the local commander of Iran-backed Islamic Jihad forces in Tulkarm.
