Pakistani man linked to ISIS: A Pakistani citizen living in Canada has been arrested. He has been accused of planning an attack in New York City in support of the terrorist organization ISIS. In a statement issued by the US Justice Department, it was said that 20-year-old Mohammad Shahzeb Khan (Shahzeb Jadoon), living in Canada, was arrested from the Canada-US border on September 4.
According to US Attorney General Merrick B. Garland, the suspect has been accused of planning a terrorist attack in New York City to kill as many Jewish people as possible in the name of the so-called Islamic State around October 7 this year. The Pakistani man was planning to kill as many Jewish citizens as possible. Shahzeb said that “New York is perfect for targeting Jews” because it has the largest Jewish population in the United States.
Can be sentenced to 20 years
According to the US Justice Department, Shahzeb reached the border in three different vehicles around September 4. According to the report of ‘New York Post’, US officials said that the suspect reached 19 kilometers close to the border in three different vehicles, but was stopped near Ormstown, a city in the Canadian province of Quebec.
The US Justice Department informed that if Shahzeb is found guilty, he could be sentenced to 20 years in prison. Earlier, a Pakistani named Asif Merchant was arrested in the US last month. He is accused of planning to murder a politician or government official on American soil.
