Pakistan has been shocked by the Muslim countries not raising the Kashmir issue in the United Nations. Pakistan claims its closeness and friendship with Turkey, but why did Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan not mention Kashmir? This question has become a topic of discussion in Pakistan. Pakistani expert Qamar Cheema has given the reason for this that BRICS membership is most important for Turkey at this time and that is why it ignored this issue in the UN. Qamar Cheema said that when Article 370 was removed from Kashmir in 2019, Recep Tayyip Erdogan had made it a big issue, but now he remained completely silent. He said that this attitude of Muslim countries shows that they are angry with us and Pakistan needs to be cautious.
Kamar Cheema said that any country ranks a country by looking at its status and from that perspective, India’s status is much better than Pakistan. He said, ‘Today Turkey wants to become a member of BRICS, in which India is an important player. Turkey knows that if it mentions Kashmir, it can create problems for it. However, it may not make any difference because the decision to make a member is taken unanimously.’ Kamar Cheema said that the question is whether Turkey realizes that now no one stands with Pakistan on the issue of Kashmir. Earlier, the President of Turkey used to say that stability will come in South Asia only when the issue of Kashmir is resolved. This means that now Turkey is not with Pakistan.
Why did Turkiye remain silent for his friend?
Qamar Cheema said, ‘Pakistan calls Turkiye its friend, but I am surprised to see his silence in the United Nations and Shahbaz Sharif also did not say anything to him. Perhaps Turkiye calculated Pakistan’s position, where Pakistan stands, what is its economy and how are its relations with other countries. It needs India to go to BRICS. Why do they need Pakistan? They help Pakistan, but Pakistan is using them because they are Muslims.’
Is Turkey influenced by India’s position?
Kamar Cheema further said, ‘India did not force, Turkey retreated on its own and Turkey does not have very good relations with India. The question is why all these Muslim countries have retreated? The reason for this is that they have sensed India’s power. They look at military assets, population, geographical position, economic position, political position, nuclear corporation, international corporation, all these things. All these are parameters to measure power and when Pakistan is included in these, we will see that India is far ahead.’ Kamar Cheema also objected to the style of meeting of Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He said that the way the Turkish President met Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, he met as if he was thinking that he is our child. I did not like this at all. These things tell us that we need to be cautious. This tells us that our friends are angry with us.
India has become the third largest economy, said Qamar Cheema
He said that at this time everyone listens to India. The Australian institute Lowy Institute has declared India as the third largest economy. This means that India’s stature has increased in Asia. He said that the report of the American think tank Pew Research also revealed that 68% Indians feel that their power has increased. You see how positive people in India are about their country.
What did Pak experts say on Kashmir elections?
Qamar Cheema also talked about the elections in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that elections are being held in Kashmir. The entire diplomatic community has reached Kashmir. He said that all diplomats can go to Kashmir, but no diplomat can go to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of POK. He said that 12 diplomats were going there recently and they were attacked, but India has security. Diplomats from America, South Korea, Norway, Spain, South Africa are going to Kashmir because they know that they will be taken properly with security.
