The Union Home Ministry said in a notification that HUT is involved in motivating innocent youth to join terrorist organizations like Islamic State (ISIS) and raising funds for terrorist activities.
It said that HUT is promoting terrorism by using various social media platforms, secure apps and organizing ‘Daawa’ meetings to encourage innocent youth to join terrorist activities.
Central government considers HUT as terrorist organization
“Whereas, the Central Government believes that Hizb-ut-Tahrir is involved in terrorism and has participated in various terrorist acts in India,” the notification said. In the notification, this group has been declared a banned organization under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
