Talking to the media, he said, “India and Pakistan should start talks to solve the problems. I hope that the Foreign Minister of India should face the media. I know the Indian Foreign Minister will talk about terrorism.”

People familiar with the matter said that he may attend the dinner organized by Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to welcome the representatives of SCO member countries. This is the first high level visit from India in years amid the ongoing tension in relations between the two neighboring countries. He landed at the Noor Khan airbase, where he was welcomed by South Asia Foreign Ministry Director General Ilyas Mahmood Nizami, the Pakistani Foreign Office said in a post on social media.
Will the ice on relationships melt?
This is the first time in almost nine years that the External Affairs Minister of India has visited Islamabad, the previous being External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who visited Islamabad to attend a conference in December 2015. The visit is taking place despite tensions in relations between the two neighbors over the Kashmir issue and cross-border terrorism emanating from Pakistan. It is believed that Jaishankar will stay in Pakistan for less than 24 hours.
