ECB Rejects Hosting Idea Champions Trophy 2025: Champions Trophy 2025 is to be organized in the months of February and March next year. For many months, ICC is also waiting for any update regarding Team India going to Pakistan. Due to lack of clear stand from India, the concern of ICC and other countries participating in the tournament has also increased. Meanwhile, the England and Wales Cricket Board has expressed concern about the Champions Trophy 2025.
On the Champions Trophy, ECB Chief Richard Gould said, “I don’t even think about a tournament without India. If you play the Champions Trophy without India and Pakistan, then there will be no broadcasting rights. If India is not in the tournament, then this cricket will not be there.” It will not be good news for the game. We are all waiting to see whether India will go to Pakistan to play the Champions Trophy or not.
The game will suffer huge losses
Richard Gould believes that Jay Shah, who has been elected ICC Chairman, will also have a big role in whether India goes to Pakistan to play the Champions Trophy or not. Richard has expressed confidence that Jay Shah will definitely find some way or the other and he will have to find a way for the betterment of cricket. A few weeks ago, BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla had said that the decision whether the Indian team will go to play cricket abroad or not is completely in the hands of the Government of India, but the government has not yet put forward any clear stand.
Pakistan is not ready to retreat
According to the proposed schedule of Champions Trophy 2025, all the matches of Team India are to be played in Lahore. PCB is adamant on organizing the Champions Trophy entirely in Pakistan and has made it clear that no hybrid model will be adopted. In such a situation, it would not be wrong to say that the future of the Champions Trophy 2025 tournament is hanging in the balance.
