Can one shave hair and beard during Chhath Puja?

Chhath is one of the important festivals of Hindu religion, in which strict rules have to be followed. This year, Chhath festival has started from 5th November, which will end on 8th November 2024.

Chhath festival lasts for four days and special rules are followed during this period. Besides, purity and cleanliness are also taken care of during Chhath. Because a small mistake committed knowingly or unknowingly does not yield the results of the fast.

Amidst all the rules, there is a question in the minds of people whether they can shave their hair or cut their nails during Chhath festival. Let us tell you that doing work related to shaving during Chhath Puja is not considered auspicious.

Not only Chhath but in any festival related to Hindu religion, shaving is prohibited after fasting. Therefore, you should complete all these tasks before starting the fast.

Apart from Chhath, shaving of hair and beard is also prohibited on days like Sawan, Pitripaksha and Navratri. Shaving your hair and beard on prohibited days leads to mental unrest and poor financial condition.

Along with this, one should not eat non-vegetarian food and food containing garlic and onion for the entire four days during Chhath Puja. Things like radish, carrot and raw turmeric should not be consumed at this time. Because these things are kept in soup and offered to the Sun God.
