Home Ministry On Digital Arrests: The Home Ministry and other concerned agencies are continuously working to control incidents like digital arrest. Since these incidents have increased in the last one year, the government has started keeping a close watch on social media and video calling platforms. According to the information, till now thousands of suspicious social media accounts and video calling accounts have been closed and legal action has also been taken against them.
The Cyber Security Wing of the Home Ministry has now requested social media platforms to continuously make their users aware to avoid cyber crimes. The ministry asked the platforms to send precautionary messages regularly so that people can avoid falling prey to problems like digital arrest and remain alert about their safety.
Cyber security wing held a meeting with Microsoft
Recently, the Cyber Security Wing of the Home Ministry held a meeting with Microsoft, in which such incidents on platforms like Skype were discussed. After this meeting, Microsoft has started giving warning messages to users on its Skype platform. Now whenever a person makes a call through Skype, he will see a warning message. It will be written in this message “Indian legal authorities will never contact you on Skype” i.e. Indian legal authorities will never contact you through Skype.
Strong steps for cyber security
This step has been taken to further strengthen cyber security so that users can avoid any kind of fraud and cyber crimes. The Home Ministry and other agencies are continuously increasing these efforts so that the incidents of cyber arrests and other digital crimes can be reduced in the future.
