Attack on Doctor in Chennai Hospital: A very shocking news has come out from a hospital in Chennai. On Wednesday (13 November 2024), a patient’s son attacked a doctor several times with a knife in a government hospital here. The doctor’s condition remains critical and he is undergoing treatment.
According to Chennai Police, the name of the person who attacked the doctor is Vignesh. He is a resident of Chennai. His mother is admitted in the cancer ward of Kalaignar Centenary Hospital. Dr. Balaji is also posted in the same ward. On Wednesday, they were working when Vignesh came and suddenly started attacking them with a knife. He attacked several times one after the other.
The accused was running away after the attack
The accused youth was trying to run away from there after the attack, but the hospital staff caught him and handed him over to the police. According to sources, the young man has told the police that the doctor had prescribed the wrong medicine for his cancer-stricken mother. Mother’s health deteriorated after eating it. The police is investigating the matter. It has been told that the accused himself had gone to the doctor posing as a patient.
CM Stalin ordered investigation
On the other hand, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has expressed surprise at this incident. He has also ordered to provide necessary treatment to the injured doctor and conduct a detailed investigation of the incident. The Chief Minister said, “It is shocking that Dr. Balaji, working at Guindy Kalaignar Centenary Super Specialty Hospital, was stabbed by a family member of a patient. The person involved in this incident was immediately arrested. I have directed That Dr. Balaji be given all necessary medical treatment and a detailed investigation be conducted into the matter.”
Health Minister promised immediate action
The CM further said, “The selfless work of our government doctors in providing proper treatment to patients in government hospitals is incomparable. It is our duty to ensure their safety. The government will take all measures to prevent such incidents in future.” State Health Minister Subramaniam also promised prompt action in the matter. “Two people have been arrested and the police will take immediate steps to arrest others involved,” the minister said.
