Establishing documented procedures for maintaining equipment.
Warning to bankers
The National Organ and Tissues Transplant Organization (NOTTO) has written to all states and Union Territories (UTs) warning eye banks not improving eye donation activities that they may lose their business if they fail to meet the target of cornea collection. As per the rules of the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act, 1994, every eye bank affiliated with the state authorities has to collect at least 500 corneas in five years. Which is roughly equivalent to at least 50 eyes and 100 corneas every year.
