Weather took a turn in Kashmir, warning issued for tourists visiting – these things have to be kept in mind

Kashmir Weather: The weather has suddenly changed across North India and cold has started. There is complete fog in many cities, while in Kashmir also the weather is changing continuously. Due to sudden change in weather and early entry of cold, the Health Department and Meteorological Department have issued a mild warning for the local people and tourists visiting Kashmir Valley during the next two weeks.

There is also a possibility of snowfall
According to Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Director of Meteorological Department, Kashmir, dry weather is forecast in the entire region till November 23. However, there is a possibility of rain again in the region on November 24, with light rain and snowfall at isolated places in the higher reaches of Kashmir as well as Jammu division. Although the prediction of no snowfall after November 24 will provide some relief to residents and tourists during the day time, the Meteorological Department has predicted a further drop in the minimum temperature in the entire region due to clear skies.

Dr Mukhtar said, “There will be a significant drop in temperature during the next two weeks, but it will not be worrying.” On Sunday, most tourist places recorded sub-zero temperatures due to recent snowfall, with Sonamarg recording a low of 5.3 degrees Celsius, the season’s lowest. Pahalgam in Anantnag recorded the minimum temperature of minus 2 degrees Celsius, while skiing destination Gulmarg in Baramulla recorded minus 1.8 degrees Celsius.

Despite the drop in temperature after fresh snowfall in the upper reaches, which covered Kashmir in white blanket and brought cold wave to the valley, but it is not stopping the tourists who are enjoying the cold. Mahendra Kumar from Haryana, who has come to visit Kashmir with his family, says that he has been in the valley for several days and is enjoying the winter season of Kashmir. Another tourist van said with a smile, we saw snowfall and it was very cold. We felt cold despite wearing sweaters and jackets.

There will be severe cold in the coming days
However, he issued a warning to all those intending to visit Kashmir, “Please bring your jackets and sweaters as it is a beautiful place but also very cold.” The Kashmir Valley witnessed its first significant weather event in the high altitude areas on Saturday. There was snowfall and rain in the plains, resulting in a sharp drop in temperatures across the region and doctors are asking people to exercise caution as the coming days will see less rainfall and more severe cold.

Advice to avoid cold things
“The main health problems and pulmonary problems are caused by dry and cold weather. People are advised to wear warm clothes, avoid cold foods and keep themselves hydrated,” said Dr Naveed, head of pulmonary medicine at the Chest Diseases Hospital in Srinagar. “There is a need to drink a lot of hot water.”

Rain and snowfall are expected again on November 24 and then the weather will turn dry with sunshine over Srinagar and other parts of the valley, which will see a further drop in temperatures, which will impact weather systems across North India. “With further drop in temperatures, the possibility of early arrival of fog over North Indian plains cannot be ruled out,” the weather department said. In Kashmir Valley and Ladakh, it usually starts getting so cold from the month of December, which lasts from 21st December to 31st January. This interval of forty days is called “Chille Kalan”.
