maharashtra assembly elections After the grand victory of Mahayuti in 2024, there is suspense over the name of the Chief Minister. The parties winning the most seats in the grand alliance are Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). So obviously someone from among them will also become the CM. However, at present there are two contenders for the post of CM – BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis and Shiv Sena’s Eknath Shinde. In such a situation, Ajit Pawar can play the role of CM Maker in finalizing the name of the Chief Minister.
Out of total 235 seats of Mahayuti, BJP won 132, Shiv Sena won 57 and NCP won 41 seats. If we look at these election figures, BJP cannot form a government without Shiv Sena and NCP. To form the government, a magical figure of 145 is required, hence someone’s support is necessary for that. On the other hand, Shiv Sena and NCP together will not be able to do anything because together they will be able to add only 98 seats. However, Ajit Pawar has made his stand clear that he has no problem if Devendra Fadnavis becomes the CM. Shiv Sena seems to be very angry with his statement.
Former minister and Shiv Sena functionary Ramdas Kadam on Tuesday (November 26, 2024) said that due to Ajit Pawar, Shiv Sena’s power to stake claim for the CM post in the grand alliance has reduced as the NCP chief said that Devendra Fadnavis’ Chief Minister He has no objection to becoming one.
He said, ‘We feel that Eknath Shinde should become the Chief Minister and BJP wants to make Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar surrendered in the name of Fadnavis. In this way they have reduced the strength of our claim. Whatever may happen, there will be no dispute in Mahayuti. We contested the elections under the leadership of Eknath Shinde and got a big victory.
If we look at the difference of seats, NCP also realizes that if Devendra Fadnavis becomes the Chief Minister, he will have equal stature to Shiv Sena in the grand alliance because Shiv Sena and NCP are the second parties in the alliance after BJP which won 132 seats.
After the meeting held in Mahayuti on Monday, it seems that Ajit Pawar is ready to take the post of Deputy CM once again under the leadership of Devendra Fadnavis. Just like it happened in the 2019 elections. However, the BJP government fell within 80 hours. Secondly Ajit Pawar may consider that if Eknath Shinde If he becomes the Chief Minister, due to the difference in seats, he will be able to demand the same post for NCP as for BJP.
