Flight had to make emergency landing in Kuwait, many Indians stranded at airport for 23 hours

Indian passengers at Kuwait Airport: Indian passengers are stranded at Kuwait airport. Gulf Air flight going from Mumbai to Manchester had to make emergency landing at Kuwait International Airport due to technical fault. This step was taken after information about smoke coming from the flight engine. However, the passengers are not getting any help there, due to which they are stuck at the airport without food and water for more than 23 hours.

Actually, due to engine failure of the flight going from Mumbai to Manchester, emergency landing was done at Kuwait Airport. This decision was taken after seeing smoke in the flight. 60 Indian passengers have been waiting at the airport for 23 hours. They have neither been given adequate space to sit nor been provided food and water.

Complaints of passengers on social media

In the video going viral on social media, passengers are seen arguing with Kuwait airport officials. Passengers have alleged that Indian passengers are being deliberately mistreated. At the same time, till now no concrete statement has come from Gulf Air regarding help to the passengers or solution to the problem.

Embassy has been informed by Gulf Air that the flight for stranded passengers from Kuwait to Manchester is tentatively scheduled at 3.30 am on 2 Dec. This is being conveyed to all passengers by the Embassy team at the airport. @DrSJaishankar @PMOIndia @MEAIndia @KVSinghMPGonda

The embassy made arrangements for accommodation in the lounge.

Indians in Kuwait are not eligible for Visa on Arrival (VoA), so they are not able to leave the airport although the Indian Embassy there is trying to assist them. The problems of stranded Indians have increased as airport hotels are not available due to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) meeting in Kuwait. The embassy has made arrangements to accommodate him in the airport lounge.

Indian Embassy’s response

The Indian Embassy in Kuwait said on Sunday night at Giving this information to the passengers, food and water is available for the stranded passengers.

Software engineer Shivansh, one of the stranded passengers, wrote with the All British passport holders were accommodated in their hotels with VoA, while Indian passport holders were left stranded without any information, food or assistance of any kind.”

Another passenger Sai Samrat Anandpu tweeted from his handle @SamratChintu “I was flying from Hyderabad to Manchester with transit in Bahrain. Our flight started at 2.10 am, but after 1.5 hours the left engine caught fire, resulting in landing in Kuwait City. We have been waiting for help for more than 6 hours, but only British citizens and GCC residents have been given space, due to which we Indians are not able to get help. There are children and elderly people among us, who have not been informed about our flight to Manchester. Please provide us accommodation as we have to freshen up.”
