Tamil Nadu Video: Residents of Iruvelpattu village in Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu on Tuesday (December 03, 2024) allegedly threw mud at the Tamil Nadu Forest Minister during his visit to Ponmudi to assess the damage caused by floods. The incident occurred during fierce protests on the Chennai-Trichy National Highway, where villagers expressed their frustration over inadequate relief efforts.
While inspecting Iruvelpattu village, Ponmudi encountered angry locals who alleged that their remote village had been neglected by the authorities for two days following the impact of Cyclone Fengal in the district. One of the villagers who had gathered threw mud at the minister, which stained his white shirt as well as the dresses of several officers and police personnel in his entourage.
What did the minister say on mud throwing?
In Chennai, Shekhar Babu addressed the media about the incident, calling it a politically motivated act. Babu said, “The mud was thrown by a member of a political party and his relative.” The protest that lasted for more than four hours brought traffic to a standstill and brought out complaints from people affected by the cyclone.
BJP shared the video
BJP Tamil Nadu president K Annamalai shared the video of the incident and alleged that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin is busy “taking photos” in Chennai and is not watching anything other than what is happening in the capital city.
This is the current state of affairs in Tamil Nadu. The CM and the Deputy Chief Minister were busy taking photos in the streets of Chennai while the city received very little rain and did not bother to keep track of the happenings beyond Chennai. Stalin on Tuesday called a high-level meeting with ministers monitoring relief operations in flood-hit areas including Villupuram, Cuddalore and Kallakurichi. During the review, Stalin announced a compensation package aimed at addressing the losses suffered by the affected families. The state government promised Rs 5 lakh to the families of those who lost their lives in the floods and Rs 10,000 to the damaged houses.
