Rheumatoid arthritis starts at an early age in life. May be in the age group of 30-40 years. Women generally have a family history of suffering from similar joint pain on the maternal side. If we look at their disease process, in OA, due to the wear and tear that occurs in the joint, the cartilage gradually becomes thin and can later lead to complete loss of cartilage and the formation of extra bones (osteophytes) along the joint margins. Due to weak immunity, the antigens present in the joints are considered foreign by the body and the immunity becomes weak.
