South Korea martial law: South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol had suddenly declared martial law on Thursday (December 4). After this, heavily armed soldiers were deployed on the streets of Seoul. This step proved shocking not only within the country but also at the international level.
After the imposition of martial law, opposition party leader Lee Jae-myung took a strong stance against the President’s decision. He took the bold step of climbing the wall of Parliament to reach the National Assembly. Jae-Myung telecasted this entire incident live on YouTube, in which he was seen climbing the wall and jumping to the other side.

Use of strong words against the President
Lee Jae-myung strongly criticized President Yoon Suk Yeol, calling martial law illegal. He said that the President is no longer the legitimate ruler of South Korea. Along with this, he appealed to the public to gather in the Parliament and said, “The economy of the Republic of Korea will completely collapse. My fellow citizens, please come to the National Assembly.”
MPs voted against martial law
Within hours of the implementation of martial law, about 190 MPs reached the National Assembly and voted unanimously against it. They passed a resolution to cancel it, which brought some relief to the situation.
President’s argument
President Yoon Suk Yeol imposed martial law and called it necessary for the security of the country. He said, “This step has been taken to protect South Korea from North Korea’s communist forces and to eliminate anti-state elements. The opposition party has attempted to paralyze the regime and avoid special investigation.”
