Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has appointed chairpersons in important committees of Parliament. Congress MP KC Venugopal has again been appointed chairman of the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament, while BJP’s Baijayant Panda has been made the chairperson of the Public Undertakings Committee.
According to an official notification, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has appointed Congress MP KC Venugopal as the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee for the year 2026-27. Similarly, Baijayant Panda has been made the chairman of the Public Undertaking Committee for the year 2026-27. A total of 21 members have been appointed as members of the Public Accounts Committee for the term starting from 1 May 2026 and ending on 30 April 2027.
Who all are involved?
These members include 15 Lok Sabha MPs and 6 Rajya Sabha MPs. From Lok Sabha, TR Baalu, Kalyan Banerjee, Nishikant Dubey, Jagadambika Pal, Jai Prakash, Ravi Shankar Prasad, CM Ramesh, Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, Aparajita Sarangi, Amar Singh, Tejasvi Surya, Anurag Singh Thakur, Balashowri Vallabhaneni, KC Venugopal and Dharmendra Yadav has been selected.
Who was elected from Rajya Sabha?
Whereas Rajya Sabha MPs Ashokrao Shankarrao Chavan, K Laxman, Praful Patel, Sukhendu Shekhar Ray, Akhilesh Prasad Singh and Sudhanshu Trivedi have been included in the committee. There are a total of 22 members in the Public Undertaking Committee, which includes 15 MPs from the Lok Sabha and 7 from the Rajya Sabha.

The Speaker of the Lok Sabha has appointed BJP MP Faggan Singh Kulaste as the Chairman of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Committee. A total of 30 members have been appointed in this committee. 20 MPs from Lok Sabha and 10 MPs from Rajya Sabha have been kept in this committee.
Om Birla has also constituted the Estimates Committee of the Lok Sabha for one year. BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal has been made the chairman of the estimates committee. A total of 30 members have been appointed in this committee too, including 20 MPs from Lok Sabha and 10 from Rajya Sabha.
