Candidates filling wrong bank details will get one more chance for correction, NTA released new information

Amidst the process of NEET UG 2026 examination, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued an important update regarding the fee refund. The agency has said that the candidates who want to get the refund, their amount will be sent only to the bank account whose information will be entered and verified on the official portal. Along with this, relief has been given to those students who had made mistakes while filling the bank details. Such candidates will be given another opportunity to improve after the examination.

Why is it important to provide correct bank details for refund

According to NTA, the refund process will be completed completely online and in a secure manner. In such a situation, it is important for the candidates that the bank account entered by them is active and correct. If the account information is entered incorrectly, the refund process may be delayed or the payment may get stuck. The agency has said that the refund will be sent only to the account which is linked to the name of the candidate and has been successfully verified on the portal. Therefore, students have been advised to re-check their information.

NTA has suggested students to check their information by visiting the official portal. For this, login can be done through application number and password or date of birth. After login, candidates can go to the bank verification section and check the bank account number, IFSC code and name of the account holder. If any mistake is found in any information then it will be necessary to correct it in time.

Those who fill wrong information will get extra chance

The agency has taken a new decision after many candidates complained about problems in bank detail update and verification. NTA has said that an additional correction window will be made available after the completion of the examination. Through this facility, those students who have entered the wrong bank account by mistake or whose information could not be verified due to some technical reason will be able to update their information. The objective of this decision is to ensure that no student is deprived of a refund merely because of a data entry mistake.

Decision taken after concerns of students

In recent times, many students had raised questions regarding the refund process through social media and other mediums. The candidates said that if the bank details are wrong then will they not get the refund? Keeping these questions in mind, the agency clarified that eligible candidates will be given an opportunity to make corrections so that their funds can reach the correct account safely.

Beware of cyber fraud

Along with the refund process, NTA has also issued a warning regarding cyber security. The agency has said that some people may try to cheat the candidates in the name of getting refund quickly or getting bank verification done. Students and parents have been advised not to trust any suspicious call, SMS, email or social media link. Take official information only from the respective portal.
The agency has clearly said that NTA never asks for OTP, password, UPI PIN or any kind of payment related information from the candidates.
