Before being laid to rest, Khamenei’s mortal remains were taken to Najaf and Karbala in Iraq, where religious rituals related to him were performed. The process of Khamenei’s funeral started from Iran’s capital Tehran. After this, religious programs were organized in Qom city the next day. His body was later taken to Iraq, where last rites and religious ceremonies took place in the holy cities of Najaf and Karbala.
