The husband, who works in the Air Force, filed this defamation case when the wife filed a complaint against him at the Air Force Headquarters. The wife submitted a memorandum to the headquarters accusing him of doing business while on the job. Calling it a defamation, the husband filed a case against her. The wife says that the husband has filed many false cases against her through one of his friends. One of them is the case of theft of the helmet given to her husband from the Air Force. His brother has also been made an accused in this case. The woman’s lawyer told the judges that her purpose behind going to the Air Force Headquarters was to gather information about this.

What did Justice Nagarathna say to both the sides?

Justice Nagarathna told both the parties that you are already fighting for divorce. Then why are they taking different types of actions against each other? You people should consider withdrawing the remaining cases filed against each other. During the hearing, Justice Nagarathna said that in matrimonial disputes, wives need maintenance allowance. Later there is also a lump sum settlement. In such a situation, trying to eliminate the husband’s source of income is beyond comprehension. Ultimately the Supreme Court sent both the parties to its mediation center for reconciliation. The court has said that both the parties should try to find a solution in the presence of the mediator. If the dispute is not resolved then further hearing will be held.
