Opposition enraged over calling rebel TMC MPs in all-party meeting, first walked out and then joined

Controversy erupted in the all-party meeting called before the Parliament session when rebel Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs were also called to attend the meeting. On this, the opposition parties expressed strong protest and carried out a symbolic walkout. However, after holding the press conference, the opposition leaders again joined the meeting.

TMC raised the issue of rebel MPs- Dharmendra Yadav
After this meeting, Samajwadi Party MPs Dharmendra Yadav said that TMC leaders raised the question as to why the list of rebel MPs was shown first instead of the official TMC MPs. He said that this step of the government is undemocratic.

Mahua Moitra said- this is a wrong tradition
TMC MP Mahua Moitra also attacked the government and asked that when these MPs had left the party, why were they called to the all-party meeting. He said that inviting rebel MPs is a wrong tradition.

The opposition did a symbolic walkout
After the controversy, many opposition leaders including Congress’s Pramod Tiwari, Samajwadi Party’s Dharmendra Yadav, NCP’s (Sharad Pawar faction) Supriya Sule and TMC’s Mahua Moitra walked out of the meeting. The opposition called it a symbolic walkout. Opposition leaders came out and held a press conference and cornered the government on the issue of rebel TMC MPs. After this, the leaders of all the opposition parties again attended the all-party meeting.

Mahua Moitra targeted
Mahua Moitra said that the entire opposition including Congress, Samajwadi Party, DMK, JMM, Aam Aadmi Party, National Conference, Left parties and Shiv Sena (UBT) conducted a symbolic walkout from the all-party meeting. He alleged that the unrecognized NCPI was called to the meeting, while the merger of its 20 rebel MPs has not yet been approved by the Lok Sabha Speaker and their disqualification petitions are pending. Mahua raised the question on what basis did the Parliamentary Affairs Minister invite these MPs for the meeting.

Mahua Majhi angry at BJP
JMM’s Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Majhi said that BJP is constantly trying to include MPs from other parties and it still needs some seats. He said that the opposition is in favor of giving reservation to women, but the government has linked it to delimitation. He expressed apprehension that if delimitation is done on the basis of 2011 census, the seats of Scheduled Tribe (ST) in Jharkhand may be reduced. He said that if the government gives assurance that the seats will not be reduced and the opposition agrees, then his party can consider its stand.

Kiren Rijiju appealed
At the same time, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the monsoon session of Parliament is starting from Monday and a meeting of leaders of all parties was called in this regard. He appealed to all political parties for cooperation in smoothly running the proceedings of Parliament. Rijiju said that the government will listen to the opposition and hopes that the opposition will also listen to the government, because the better the Parliament runs, the more the country will benefit.
