Dream of driving a bullet train, how can one become its driver in India, what should be the qualification?

Bullet Train Driver: India’s first bullet train project is rapidly moving towards its final phase. The target has been set to start the bullet train on Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor by 15 August 2027. In such a situation, the question in the minds of many youth is that how will they become bullet train drivers in India, what will be the qualification for this and how much salary will they get. Meanwhile, National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited has also announced recruitment for technical and operational posts related to the project, due to which new employment opportunities have emerged in this sector. In such a situation, let us now tell you that if you also have a dream of driving a bullet train, then how can you become a bullet train driver in India and what should be the qualification for this.

Work on India’s Bullet Train project going on at a fast pace

Mumbai Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor is the country’s first bullet train project. A total of 12 stations including Mumbai to Ahmedabad are being built on this 508 kilometer long corridor. According to the Railway Ministry, the target to start operation of this project is 15 August 2027. The bullet train will be operated through state-of-the-art automated system. However, it will be the responsibility of the pilot present in the train to follow the instructions of the control center, monitor the system and take immediate decisions in case of any emergency.

How can one become a bullet train driver in India?

Bullet train service has not started in India yet, hence a separate driver recruitment process has not been started for it. However, the recruitment of technical and operational staff associated with the high speed rail project is being done through NHSRCL. In future, pilots can be made pilots by giving special training to experienced employees in railway, metro or high speed rail systems for operating bullet trains. For this, employees who already have experience in railway operation will be given special training in Japan, because India’s first high speed rail project is based on Japanese technology. However, at present, NHSRCL has issued recruitment notification for various technical and operation related posts for the candidates willing to work in the Bullet Train Project.
