Tehran: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Iranian Army on Thursday claimed to have retaliated against US military bases in Kuwait and Jordan. Iran says that this action was taken in response to the continuous attacks against it by America. However, these claims could not be independently verified. According to Iran’s state media Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, the IRGC issued a statement saying that the radar of the American THAAD missile defense system has been destroyed by swift attacks on US military bases in Jordan. Let us tell you that Iran has consistently said it will continue to respond to US attacks..
Addressed the people of Jordan after the attack
The IRGC claimed that Patriot missile defense systems and C-RAM radars were also destroyed in the strikes. Apart from this, the fuel tanks present at the American military base were set on fire. The IRGC also claims that a large warehouse of helicopter equipment and a repair and maintenance center for helicopters were also damaged and destroyed in the attacks. Addressing the Jordanian public, the IRGC said that Iran respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Jordan, but according to it the presence of US military bases in itself is a violation of Jordan’s sovereignty. IRGC said in its statement,
‘It is our legal, religious and logical right to respond to those who attack our country and kill our children, from wherever they attack.’
‘3 military bases targeted in Kuwait’
On the other hand, the Iranian Army, while announcing the 23rd phase of ‘Operation Lightning’, claimed that it has targeted 3 US military bases located in Kuwait through drone attacks. According to the Iranian military’s public relations department, the drone strikes targeted ammunition and logistics depots at the Doha base, fuel tanks at the Ali al-Salem base and ammunition depots at the Arifjan camp. The army said in its statement,
‘In response to the enemy’s continuous arrogance and aggression against our country, Iran’s military targeted the ammunition and logistics depot of Doha Base, fuel tanks of Ali Al Salem Base and ammunition depot of Arifjan Camp with its powerful drone strikes a few hours ago in the 23rd phase of Operation Lightning.’
‘We did not violate Kuwait’s sovereignty’
The IRGC said in another statement that its forces had targeted US military facilities at Kuwait’s Ali Al Salem Air Base. It claims that in this attack a warehouse of military equipment, Patriot missile defense system and hangar of MQ-9 drone were destroyed. Apart from this, the IRGC said that the helicopter hangar and communication hangar built in Al-Adiri Barracks, where American soldiers live, were also targeted. Addressing the people of Kuwait, the IRGC said that its attacks are not a violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty, as the actions have been taken only against US military targets. The statement said,
‘Your territorial integrity and sovereignty have been violated by the US, not by us. We are attacking areas where the American army is present, which knows nothing except crime.
America attacked for the 12th consecutive night
Let us tell you that this development has come to light at a time when the American Central Command i.e. CENTCOM said on Wednesday that it has completed military action against Iran for the 12th consecutive night. CENTCOM said in its statement, ‘At 10:30 pm (US time) on July 22, US Central Command completed military strikes against Iran for the 12th consecutive night.’ According to the US, these attacks targeted Iran’s maritime military capabilities, missile and drone storage facilities, coastal surveillance bases and air defense systems. CENTCOM says these attacks have weakened Iran’s ability to attack civilian ships and commercial vessels.
‘Dozens of military targets in Iran were targeted’
CENTCOM also said US forces have targeted dozens of military targets inside Iran this month. Additionally, the maritime blockade against Iran has also been resumed after the breakdown of the 14-point MoU signed between the two countries last month. According to the US military command, so far 9 commercial ships have been diverted and one ship has been disabled, so that no ship can enter or exit Iranian ports. CENTCOM also said that currently there are more than 50,000 American soldiers deployed in West Asia who are capable of dealing with any situation.
