On Thursday (July 23) night in the Bihar Sampark Kranti Express going from Delhi to Darbhanga, a woman gave birth to a newborn baby in the moving train. After this incident that took place in sleeper coach number 4 of the train, with the promptness of passengers, GRP, railway administration and doctors, the mother and newborn were safely sent to Gonda District Hospital.
According to the information received, the family from Madhubani, Bihar was traveling from Delhi to Darbhanga. Meanwhile, at around 9 pm the woman started having labor pains. Other women passengers present in the train immediately came forward for help and got the delivery done. According to passengers, the woman gave birth to a healthy newborn at 10:26 pm. At that time the train was running between Badshahnagar Junction and Gonda Junction.
Railway administration became active
As soon as information about the incident was received, GRP and railway administration became active. The railway medical team reached the station even before the train reached Gonda Junction at 11:10 pm. Doctors did preliminary examination of the mother and the newborn. During examination it was found that the newborn was not crying normally. In such a situation, the doctors advised immediate hospitalization of both of them and termed further train travel as risky.
The train stopped for 20 minutes
After this, the railway administration stopped the train at Gonda station for about 20 minutes after completing the necessary formalities. An ambulance was arranged and the mother, newborn and their family were sent to Gonda District Hospital for further treatment.
Medical help received due to prompt action
During the entire incident, the passengers present in the train showed human sensitivity, while due to the prompt action of the GRP, Railway Administration and the medical team, the mother and the newborn could get medical help in time.
