CKYC 2.0 will be launched from August, will banking be easier than before?

Central KYC Registry: CKYC 2.0 is the new and modern version of India’s KYC system. Through this, you will not need to provide Aadhaar, PAN or address proof again and again in every bank, insurance company or financial institution. Once KYC is completed, the same record can be used in different institutions with your approval. With this, banking services will become easier and faster than before.

According to the report, banks and insurance companies across the country are preparing to launch CKYC.2.0 from August. In this new system, after getting the customer’s permission, banks and insurance companies will be able to see his already verified KYC information from the central database. By the end of this year, mutual fund companies and stock brokers can also join it.

With this, people will not have to submit documents again and again, the process of opening a new account or investment will be faster and availing banking and other services will become easier than before.

CKYC 2.0 What is?

CKYC 2.0 is a new and improved version of India’s KYC system. After its implementation, you will not need to provide Aadhaar, PAN or address proof again and again in every bank, insurance company or other institutions.

If your KYC has been done, then after getting approval through OTP, the concerned organization will be able to get your information through the central KYC record.

This means that you will not have to submit the same documents again every time you open a new account, buy insurance or get your KYC updated. This will make the KYC process faster, easier and hassle-free than before.

CKYC 2.0 Why was it needed?

There is already a central KYC system in India, in which KYC information of crores of people is available. But due to many records being old, incomplete or having multiple records of the same person, this system was not being used properly. This is the reason why banks, insurance companies and other financial institutions used to ask for fresh KYC documents from customers every time.

CKYC 2.0 is being introduced to overcome these problems. In this, every KYC record will get a confidence score, which will show how accurate and reliable the information in that record is.

With this, banks and insurance companies will be able to complete the KYC process faster, customers will not have to submit documents again and again and it will also become easier to identify fake or incorrect records. This will also help in preventing fraud.

First banks and insurance companies, Mutual funds will be added later

CKYC 2.0 will be launched first in banks and insurance companies from August, so that the KYC process of customers can be faster and easier than before.

After this, mutual fund companies, stock brokers and other capital market related institutions will also become part of this new system in a phased manner. It is expected that these institutions will be connected to CKYC 2.0 by the end of this year.

RBI, SEBI and IRDAI are working together to implement this new system. However, no formal announcement has been made yet by the regulators regarding the official date of its launch.

CKYC 2.0 Investment can get a boost from

Experts believe that after the implementation of CKYC 2.0, it will become easier for people to not only open bank accounts but also use mutual funds, insurance and other financial services. This may attract more people towards investment.

Joint Chief Executive of SBI Funds Management D.P. Singh says that this new KYC system can prove to be a big change for the mutual fund industry. According to him, SBI has about 50 crore bank accounts. If some of these customers also start investing in mutual funds, the number of investors can increase significantly.

On the other hand, insurance companies are also preparing to adopt CKYC 2.0. Through this system, KYC information of customers will be updated almost instantly (real-time). This will make the KYC process faster, simpler and convenient, which will benefit both customers and financial institutions.

CKYC 2.0 Financial services will become easier with

The number of people having bank accounts in India has increased rapidly in the last few years. According to the World Bank, by 2024, about 89% of adults in the country will have a bank account. However, still few people are taking advantage of services like mutual funds, insurance and pension.

The objective of CKYC 2.0 is to simplify the KYC process, so that people do not have to submit the same documents again and again for every new financial service. This will speed up identity verification and make it easier to avail new services.

If this system is implemented as planned, the process of opening a bank account, taking insurance and investing in mutual funds will be faster, easier and more convenient than before. This is expected to further improve access to financial services for crores of people across the country.
