Dr. Kunal Sood said that this is not completely wrong. He told that a research conducted at the University College London (UCL) found that some women can experience severe stomach cramps during periods, which in terms of intensity of pain can be equivalent to a heart attack. However, this does not mean that periods and heart attack are the same disease. The comparison is being made only regarding the severity of the pain.

Which women may have more pain?

According to the doctor, such pain can be seen especially in secondary dysmenorrhea. A major reason for this is a disease called Endometriosis, in which women experience severe and severe pain during periods.

What is endometriosis?

Endometriosis is a disease in which cells like the inner lining of the uterus start growing outside the uterus. This disease can affect the ovaries, fallopian tubes and pelvic area. In some cases, it can also reach the intestine and bladder. Due to this disease, women may experience severe pain during periods, excessive bleeding, constant pain in the lower abdomen and difficulty in conceiving.
