Berlin Mayor Kai Wegner expressed deep sadness over the incident, saying, “This is an attack on our free and liberal society. I have full confidence in the police and security agencies that they will work around the clock to investigate this matter.” Meanwhile, officials appealed to witnesses of the incident to come forward and provide the videos or photographs they have to the police. Lakhs of people had arrived on Saturday to participate in Berlin’s Pride Parade, organized in Germany under the name of Christopher Street Day. It is one of the largest LGBTQ+ events in Europe.
