NEET UG counseling 2026: This time a big change has been made in the NEET UG counseling process. Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) has implemented many new rules with the aim of making the admission process easier than before for students. Now students seeking seat upgradation will not have to visit the medical college again and again. After reporting for the first time, most of the further formalities can be done online.
Under the new decision of the Central Government, candidates will have to do physical reporting in the concerned medical college only once. After this, if the students want to apply for a better seat in the next round, then they will not need to go to the college again for document verification. Through online document verification, he will be able to participate in the counseling process while keeping his existing seat safe.
Physical reporting will have to be done only once
According to the new system, if a candidate chooses the float option after getting a seat in the first or second round, he can reserve his seat by completing the online document verification. If a better seat is found in the next round, the old seat will automatically be vacated and allotted to other candidates. If a better seat is not available then the already allotted seat will remain intact. However, candidates who freeze their seats after the third round will have to report physically to the institute once to complete the final admission process. During this time, formalities like verification of original documents and deposit of fees will be completed.
Withdrawal and NRI document verification will be online
MCC has also started the facility of online reservation in the counseling process. Now candidates will be able to apply online through MCC portal instead of going to the concerned institute to give up their allotted seat. Apart from this, NRI category candidates have also got relief. Earlier, additional eligibility related documents were sent through email, which sometimes caused delays and technical problems. But now these documents will be uploaded on the online portal, which will make the verification process faster and easier.
