HC directs Sameer Wankhede to release chat of conversation with Shah Rukh Khan, relief from arrest

Bombay HC On Sameer Wankhede: The Bombay High Court on Monday (May 22) extended the interim protection from arrest granted to former Regional Director of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Sameer Wankhede, accused of demanding a bribe of Rs 25 crore from Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, till June 8. increased. With this, the High Court directed Wankhede not to publish the WhatsApp chat with Shahrukh Khan and also not to talk to the media.

Wankhede is alleged to have demanded a bribe from the actor to not implicate Shah Rukh’s son Aryan Khan in the drug seizure case from the cruise ship Cordelia. Earlier, the court had on Friday (May 19) directed the CBI not to take any coercive action like arrest against Wankhede till May 22.

A vacation bench of Justice Abhay Ahuja and Justice MM Sathaye on Monday extended the period of interim relief granted to Wankhede from coercive action like arrest till June 8. The bench granted this relief during the hearing of Wankhede’s plea seeking quashing of the CBI’s FIR.

HC gave this instruction to Wankhede

The bench directed Wankhede to give an undertaking that he would not speak to the media about the case and would appear before the CBI whenever called and would not tamper with the evidence. At the same time, according to the report of Live Law, the High Court also directed Wankhede not to publish the WhatsApp chats in the matter. According to the report, Wankhede had cited his alleged chats with actor Shah Rukh Khan to counter the extortion allegation leveled against him in the CBI’s FIR. Wankhede had said that Shahrukh Khan had praised his honesty. He said that the actor would not have done this if he had actually demanded money to release Aryan Khan.
